And a joint TetraPak–Idea Lab/UBDC Education project was proposed. This will start in September-October, 2007 and channel the Idea Competitions in the area of environment. One week prior to our Idea Competitions we are to present a film in Environmental protection by Albert Gor. The purpose is to encourage students to participate in Idea Competitions. The winners of these competitions will also have the opportunity to do summer internship with a TetraPak company.  It was determent that the UBDC-Tetra Pak contract will be continued for another year. Creativity Course, fall 2007 Sat, 1 Sep 2007 09:53:12 GMT English A course will be given in autumn 2007 at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (IFU), Department of Applied Mathematics & Informatics.  The course is also available for students from other faculties at IFU and will be headed by Mälardalen University (MDH), and be linked to and support the joint project between IFU and MDH in building a University Business Development Centre (UBDC) at IFU. Teachers include faculty at the Department of Innovation, Design & Product Development at MDH as well as teachers from IFU and regional trade and industry.   The course includes teacher driven lectures, exercises, seminars in total 8 days at the following dates: Oct 10-12 (15.30-19.30) Nov 21-23 (15.30-19.30) Dec 4-5 (15.30.19.30)Student driven exercises/projects will be carried out independently by the student teams running throughout the whole course with strong links to the IUF Idea Competition.This course is on advanced level (in accordance with the European Union “Bologna system”) and is available for three and four year students and master students. Workshops & Seminars in Kyiv & Lviv in May, 2007 Tue, 1 May 2007 09:58:49 GMT English A workshop to further establish and strengthen the process of building Idea Laboratories in Kyiv and Lviv was arranged by Mälardalens Högskola and IdeaLab, Sweden. The goal of the events were: l        Inspiration and motivation for entrepreneurs l        Activate idea owners that did not win the competition l        Educate and activate the student teams l        Help the competition winners to push their process furtherIdea winners and participants from last year idea competition had the priority to participate. and after completing the seminars the participant received a Diploma:International Entrepreneurship – Overview. Congratulations and a Happy New Year Fri, 15 Dec 2006 14:24:25 GMT English The fall has been busy and successful for UBDC. Seven new Swedish students, all working on their diplomas, joined the UBDC team in August.  In the beginning of September, they made their first trip to Lviv and Kiev and met with the Ukrainian teams.In October it was finally the time for the Idea Competition kick-off.  The Idea Competition rocketed and exceeded all expectations with 77 ideas at Ivan Franko University and 80 at KPI. Congratulations to all the participants. The partners are; The Lithuanian ministry of Education, The Kaunas University of Technology, the Kaunas University of Technology Regional Business Incubator and Alytus college. UBDC Project Meeting in Kyiv Follow-up Mon, 27 Mar 2006 15:36:15 GMT English The UBDC project team met in Kyiv, at the KPI/IUF University, during March 9th-March 13th. During these four days, the local KPI/IUF team also organized a large event for KPI/IUF students. The event contained a presentation of the UBDC project´s values to students, and the team also had the participants conduct a survey on entrepreneurship. In addition, an inspirational lecture was also held by the Ukrainian entrepreneur; Valeria Kirpichnikova. Ms. Kirpichnikova held a very appreciated and inspiring presentation, in which she shared her views on the importance of entrepreneurship for Ukraine, and the key areas to think about when starting up a company in Ukraine.

The development of the web solution is one of the first Swedish-Ukrainian collaborations as a result of the UBDC project. The two companies involved are X-COM in Eskilstuna Sweden, and Zebrasus in Lviv, Ukraine.
